Resistant Starch Carbs
Now I know more about why oatmeal makes my blood sugar go through the roof. It's not one of the "resistant starch carbs", in fact it's one of the least resistant. There is much to learn about this new development and what it means to diabetics. Eating cold whole grain pasta or a frozen banana can prevent a blood sugar spike. This is amazing because it gives me food to enjoy and explains why I was getting different readings from my carb intake. Sweet potatoes, beans, whole grain pasta, and quinoa are carbs that are best to help control our blood sugar and not feel hungry soon after a meal.
